My teaching is inspired by multiple piano playing styles and movements. In terms of piano pedagogues I’m inspired chiefly by the work of Dorothy Taubman, Abby Whiteside, and Heinrich Neuhaus. In terms of non-pianistic movement and pedagogy I’m inspired heavily by eastern schools of martial arts, such as Uechi-Ryu Karate and Tai-Chi. I believe above all teaching should follow a direct and practical pathway: Student motivation (artistic or professional) followe by practical advice and guidance. With degrees in jazz/pop piano and classical piano (and professional experience in all styles) I am able to instruct a student in whatever music they wish to play.
